Maoist reshuffle Madhesi leaders

KATHMANDU, August 25: In response to serious objection from Madhes based leaders of the ruling UCPN (Maoist), Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal reshuffled the responsibility of the leaders of the three states -Mithila, Bhojpura and Abadha - of Madhes bureau. The meeting of the Madhes bureau has decided to give responsibility to leaders Bishwanath Sah, Prabhu Sah and Chandra Prakash Khanal as the coordinators Mithila, Bhojpura and Abadh respectively.



Bishwanth is close to vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Prabhu from another vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai faction and Khanal is close to Dahal faction.[break]



Madhesi leaders have been expressing disagreement with the party´s decision demanding more leaders should appointed in the party general convention committee. They have been also demanding that all state committee and bureau incharges should be from Madhes.



"Chairman Dahal assured us to add 10 leaders from Madhes among the 20," said newly appointed Mithila coordinator Bishwanth Sah. Maoist has only 231 appointed general convention members keeping 20 seats vacant.



Gautam, who was Mithila coordinator, has been transferred to the party central office.
