KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has urged CPN-UML to make its stance on forming the new government clear.

Koirala at a meeting with UML leader KP Sharma Oli at the former´s residence on Sunday urged the latter to clearly state whether the UML will give its full support to the NC to form new government.[break]

"He [Koirala] reminded me about the NC´s role during the formation of present UML-headed government and their unflinching support till the last minute," Oli told Republica.

Koirala told me that it is now UML´s turn to sincerely support Nepali Congress prime ministerial candidate, Oli said.

Oli said he sensed during the meeting that NC leaders are suspicious about UML´s role. "Maoists are always for polarization and instability. The NC leaders are a bit wary that UML might take sides to increase polarization," he said.

He said he tried to assure Koirala that the UML wouldn´t be Maoist tool in helping polarization.

The meeting has taken place ahead of parliament session that is expected to be decisive in electing a new prime minister.
