Trapped in silence: Nepal’s deaf community struggles without interpreters
With only around 131 interpreters for over 50,000 deaf individuals, many are left without basic communication in health, legal and public services. While local initiatives and digital tools show promise, progress is slow, underfunded and uneven—especially in rural areas.
The secretariat said work is underway to restore internet service and that the live broadcast of the meeting will resume as soon as connectivity is restored.
