We are still not convinced that the country will enter to federalism mode through the SRC, UDMF said in a meeting with big three parties—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML—at Singhadurbar on Tuesday. [break]
UDMF also expressed its doubts over the Terms of Reference of SRC.
According to Tarai Madhes Democratic Party-Nepal leader Govinda Chaudhary who was present in the today’s meeting, UML and NC floated an idea to go with the proposed SRC rather explore other alternatives.
Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal also argued that it would be better to go with propose SRC when the country was running out of time for the promulgation of the new constitution.
Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal said that his party would not have any reservations if the other parties including Madhes-based ones came up with other alternatives to SRC.
Dahal also agreed on formation of other technical committees as an alternative to SRC.
The leaders have agreed to meet again on Thursday to hold further discussions over the issue.
