KATHMANDU, April 21: Minister for Physical Planning and Works Top Bahadur Rayamajhi said that there is no alternative to a national consensus government to accomplish the task of concluding the peace process and complete the writing of the new constitution.

Speaking at an interaction on Thursday, Minister Rayamajhi said all parties should move ahead in unity in order to complete the major tasks of the present hour.[break]

The Maoist leader said that the political proposal floated by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is an ‘ice break’ to forge consensus among the political parties and added the proposal was sent to the central committee meeting for its approval unopposed.

Rayamajhi warned of communal violence breaking out in the country if lasting peace was not established and constitution not promulgated in the stipulated time and that only criminals will be the beneficiaries of such a state of anarchy.

Chief political advisor to the Prime Minister, Prakash Jwala lauded the proposal of Dahal and expressed confidence that that political paper will help guarantee constitution and peace.

Jwala said the issue of the Home Ministry was not a big deal provided the Maoist party makes a breakthrough in the peace process. He added the Home Ministry portfolio can be given to the Maoist party if the Maoist came forward by bringing a concrete schedule on army integration.

Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Narayan Khadka said his party was ready to accept the leadership of Dahal or any other Maoist leaders in the government if the former rebel party was committed to the current political document.
