BARA, June 23: A large quantity of restricted drugs has been recovered from a truck that was initially detained on suspicion of customs duty evasion in Bara.
According to authorities, the Parsa Police had intercepted a freight truck (Ba Pra 03–001 Kha 3346) traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu on suspicion of carrying smuggled goods and handed it over to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathlaiya.
During a detailed inspection of the vehicle, officials discovered 12,000 strips of the controlled pharmaceutical drug Tramadol, said Pramod Prasad, information officer at the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathlaiya.
262 kilograms of illegal drug seized from Indian truck
The truck, reportedly loaded from PRP Transport Service in Birgunj, was carrying various goods along with pharmaceutical items when the drugs were found hidden inside the consignment.
Authorities said the seized drugs, the vehicle, and individuals involved have been handed back to the Parsa District Police Office for further legal action and investigation.
