MUSTANG, Dec 3: The Development Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has concluded that the Korala transit point located in Chhoser VDC in Mustang district is an appropriate alternative to connect the two immediate neighbors India and China.

Members of the parliamentary team expressed this view at an interaction program held in Jomsom, the district headquarters of Mustang on Wednesday, after concluding an on-site study of the transit point. The Korala transit point has remained closed for the last 12 years after the Chinese side refused to operate the checkpoint citing security.

Committee president Rabindra Adhikari said during the interaction that Nepal would be benefited a lot if the transit point was opened and used as a commercial bridge between India and China.

"It is found that basic facilities have reached up to the site and the only main thing is to upgrade them," Adhikari said. He pointed out the need of carrying out road improvement works at some places and the Committee would issue necessary directives to the bodies concerned for the same.

The team had studied the condition of the road leading to the border check point and the surrounding topography. RSS
