Speaking at a press meet organized by the Nepal Press Union, Dhanusha chapter in Janakpur today, leader Koirala said the President should be sensitive towards the incidents, which were in violation of the constitution since he was both the preserver and patron of the constitution.
"It is up to the President whether he continues or removes Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai in the context when constitutional crisis is deepening in the country”, he said.
The Congress had a significant role in every historical turning point in the country, said Koirala, adding that onwards Nepali Congress would adopt nonviolence and peaceful agitation that were initiated by Mahatma Gandhi to bring changes in the country.
Also speaking at the program, party Vice President Ramchandra Poudel claimed that the fresh election to the Constituent
Assembly would be held within the next three months if his party got an opportunity to lead the government. The Nepali people ought to fight for guaranteeing democracy, he added.
He accused the UCPN (Maoist) of not accepting the leadership of Congress fearing that it would complete the constitution drafting task. NPU Dhanusha President Praveen Saha chaired the program.
