KATHMANDU, August 2: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started disposing garbage piled up on the streets in the Capital city for the past one week.

KMC had been unable to dump garbage owing to a landslip on way to Sisdol landfill site from Tinpeepal. [break]

The metropolitan city resumed garbage disposal on Tuesday after the landslides were cleared.

A garbage carrying vehicle of KMC on July 25 got trapped in the landslide and overturned.

Garbage accumulated on the streets after the incident as KMC couldn’t lift garbage. As a result, major places were full of foul smell.

Rabinmaan Shrestha of Environment Department of KMC said, "Nearly 400 metric tonne garbage is generated in the Capital daily and it takes two weeks to properly manage garbage.”
