Khanal meets Koirala, leaves for India

KATHMANDU, Nov 3: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal held a meeting with Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday morning.



Khanal had gone to Koirala´s residence at Maharajgunj. Khanal left for New Delhi in the afternoon for a week-long visit.



Sources said the 45-minute meeting mainly focused on his India visit and the ongoing Maoists protests.



Khanal is scheduled to meet Indian Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Indian Prime Minister Manamohan Singh and main opposition party leader Rajnath Singh, among other Indian leaders, during his stay there.



Khanal´s meeting with Koirala comes a day after a meeting with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Before leaving for New Delhi, Khanal also had a telephone conversation with the Maoist chairman. The two agreed to hold talks after Khanal returns home next week.



Meanwhile, Chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) Upendra Yadav also left for New Delhi, Tuesday afternoon. He is also scheduled to meet the top political leadership in India.
