KATHMANDU, April 7: Advocate Sher Bahadur KC of the democratic panel has maintained his lead as counting of votes for the new leadership of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) continued Thursday.
According to Senior Advocate Hari Shankar Niraula, the chief of the election committee, KC is leading the vote count with 3,305 votes while Bijay Kanta Mainali, presidential candiate from the progressive panel, has received 3,090 votes, when counting was closed for the day on Thursday evening.

Likewise, the third candidate for presidency, Manohar Shah has received 188 votes so far and fourth candidate Ram Prasad Prajapati has received 44 votes.
Likewise, in the contest for general secretary, Khamba Bahadur Khati of the democratic panel has taken the lead over Dinamani Pokharel of the progressive panel. Khati has 3,147 votes while Pokharel has 2970 votes. In the contest for treasurer, Gyan Ratna Shakya of the democratic panel is ahead of Hari Bahadur Khadka of the progressive panel. Shakya has received 3,045 votes while Khadka has garnered 2,902.
According to Niraula, all six candidates from democratic panel are leading the counting of votes in the contest for vice-chairmen. NBA has six vice-chairmen posts.
"We will resume counting of the remaining 1,070 votes on Friday and the election committee hopes to complete the counting by the afternoon," said Niraula. According to him, 477 votes from the Kathmandu District Court Bar Unit and 593 votes from Patan Appellate Court Bar Unit remain to be counted.
