Journalists on hunger strike in Morang

BIRATNAGAR, June 21: Federation of Nepali Journalists, Morang Chapter (FNJ), have started a relay hunger strike in the District Administration Office (DAO) in Morang, protesting the delay in arresting Parshuram Basnet, mastermind behind the assault on journalist Khilanath Dhakal.



The strike will start at eight in the morning and will last until six in the evening for three days, informed FNJ Secretary Gokul Parajuli. [break]



Twelve journalists started the hunger strike on Tuesday morning under the supervision of FNJ Chairman Bikram Niraula.



Mohan Bhandari, Shiva Bahadur Karki, Krishna Koirala Chaarghare, Shekhar Regmi, Press Union´s Chairman Kumud Adhikari, Vedraj Poudel, Ajit Tiwari, Lalita Bhattarai, Bharati Upadhyay, Samjhana Poudel and Minkumar Navodit are among the twelve journalists sitting for the strike on Tuesday.



This is the second phase protest where journalists are sitting in front of the DAO on hunger strike.
