During his meeting with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Thursday, Koro said Japan is willing to extend support for earthquake preparedness as Nepal, like Japan, also falls in the seismic zone. [break]
“Japan is ready to extend any kind of support for earthquake preparedness,” the prime minister´s press advisor Ram Rijhan Yadav quoted Koro as saying.
Bessho said his visit was aimed at further strengthening the friendly ties between Nepal and Japan. He also expressed confidence that both the constitution drafting and peace process would conclude under the leadership of Bhattarai.
Press Advisor Yadav said the prime minister while welcoming the minister expressed gratitude to Japan for providing assistance to Nepal. The prime minister also urged Koro to help encourage Japanese Buddhists populations to visit the birth place of Lord Buddha as Nepal is celebrating Visit Lumbini Year 2012.
Koro had appreciated Nepal´s efforts to bring about development in the Lumbini area.
On the occasion, the prime minister also said that Nepal is looking for Japanese investment for the overall development of Nepal. “The prime minister has also extended invitation to the Japanese prime minister to visit Nepal at a convenient time,” Yadav further said.
Koro held a separate meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha at the latter´s office in Singha Durbar. The duo held talks on various bilateral issues, according to MoFA sources.
Koro also held separate meetings with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal. During the meeting, Koro thanked Nepal for its support to Japan after the Tsunami last year and expressed commitment to continue support to Nepal in coming years.
