Jail terms for rape convicts

DADELDHURA: The district court of Baitadi on Tuesday sentenced two men to 13 years in jail each for gang-raping a girl one year ago. Judge Himalaya Rajpathak slapped the jail terms on Amar Raj Awasthi, 28, of Gujar VDC-28 in Baitadi, and Sagar Bhatta, of Bumeshwor VDC2, for raping a girl in Patan area of Baitadi days before last year´s SLC exams.



The girl, who hails from southern belt of Baitadi, had reached Patan to appear in the SLC exams. The girl was mentally disturbed after the rape. After receiving treatment in Kathmandu, the girl is now preparing to appear in this year´s SLC exams.
