KATHMANDU, Dec 27: A parliament meeting scheduled for Tuesday couldn’t be convened as lawmakers representing the Dalit community insisted that they wouldn’t allow the House proceedings before the government furnished its statement over the killing of a Dalit youth in Kalikot district earlier this month.

The parliament secretariat deferred the meeting for Thursday after hours-long negotiations between the ministers and lawmakers representing the Dalit community failed to yield any result. [break]

“We will continue to obstruct parliamentary proceedings until the government furnishes its reply,” CPN-UML lawmaker Chhabilal Bishwakarma told Republica.

He claimed that they were compelled to continue obstructions as the government has turned a deaf ear to the issue
