Host Sahara starts Aaha Gold Cup with victory

POKHARA, Jan 27: Hosts Sahara Club rode on Dhruba Ghimire brace to blank Rupandehi XI 3-0 in the opening match of the Seventh Aaha Gold Cup at the Pokhara Stadium on Tuesday. Ghimire scored in the 51st and 69th minutes for Sahara after Rupandehi forced out a scoreless first half and Bishnu KC sealed the emphatic win with a goal in the 88th minute in front of the home crowd.[break]



Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha had earlier inaugurated the tournament amidst a program at 1 pm.



New Road Team (NRT) faces Nepal Army Wednesday in the second match of the 11-day tournament that features 12 teams including one team each from India and Bangladesh. The winning team will purse Rs 150,000 and the runner-up Rs 75,000 in the tournament.
