HIV/AIDS infection high among workers from far-Western region

KANCHANPUR, Dec 2: Almost three fourth number of work force in India from far-Western region of Nepal have been detected with HIV/AIDS.



There are 7,599 people living with HIV/AIDS in far-western region alone, according to the information provided by Centre for HIV/AIDS and STD Control.



Seventy-four per cent of the infected are the employees who have returned from India.

 

Coordinator of District AIDS Coordination Committee, Kanchanpur, Ashok Pandey said far-western regional people are returning home with HIV/AIDS due to unsafe sexual relations kept in course of the employment.
