JCB´s network includes over 18 million merchants and the cards are now issued in 14 countries with more than 69.3 million members.

Speaking at a program, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Tatsuo Mizuno said that the collaboration between HBL and JCB International will help to further strengthen the economic and trade relationship between Nepal and Japan. "The agreement will also help to open up new avenues in the long standing Nepal-Japan trade and business relations," Mizuno said.

The Japanese ambassador also said that the HBL´s initiatives to introduce JCB card in Nepal will help to increase the flow of Japanese tourists in the nation especially during Tourism Year 2011.

Ashok JB Rana said the agreement is an attempt to simplify the banking service for its customers and to attract more customers. "We will always lead the way in introducing different card banking services as we have already established HBL as a pioneer in the field," added Rana.

Koremitsu Sannomiya, president of JCB International said that it was another benchmark for the company to introduce its card in Nepal.

He also said that the card will help Nepalis to make their banking transaction simple even if they are abroad, adding, "This will be the beginning of a new era for JCB expansion in South Asia, where there are many countries with fast-growing economies including Nepal."

According to officials, the bank will introduce the card for customers from next year.
