KATHMANDU, March 28: Hetauda Cement Factory that had remained closed for a long time period has resumed its operation by manufacturing cement clinkers.
The state-owned production unit of the construction material remained completely closed for the past seven months following the Gen Z movement on September 8-9. Hareram Acharya, information officer of the factory, said the public enterprise has started manufacturing clinkers in the first phase.
Closed Hetauda cement industry resumes operation
Acharya said preparations are being made to send the produced cement to the market after the clinker production and packaging work is done. "We have enough raw materials for two weeks, from which clinker is being produced, and additional raw materials are being managed," he informed.
Hetauda Cement has potential to manufacture 700-800 quintals of cement daily on a regular basis. Acharya said the factory has aimed to produce up to 600 quintals of cement at present.
The government established the factory in Lamsure, Hetauda in 1976. It started cement production in 1986.
