Hearing begins on Prez's move

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: The Supreme Court on Wednesday began hearing on a writ filed against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s decision to reinstate then army chief whom then Maoist-led government had decided to sack.



Advocates Krishna Subedi, Ram Krishna Kafley and Srikrishna Subedi had jointly filed the petition on behalf of INHURED International on May 4, a day after the president´s move.



A division bench of Justices Damodar Sharma and Rajendra Koirala is hearing the case. The petitioners have asked the apex court to issue a stay order against the President´s decision.



According to co-spokesperson for the SC Hemanta Rawal, nearly 18 lawyers are defending the president.
