The Election Commission (EC), Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Public Service Commission (PSC) are without heads while posts of 8 permanent judges at the Supreme Court are vacant since a long time. The EC and PSC have been run by acting chief commissioners while the CIAA doesn´t have a single commissioner for a long time.
According to Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Eknath Dhakal, the cabinet meeting also decided to recommend ordinance on amending some Nepal Acts and ordinance on formation of railway board to the president for approval.
Similarly, the government has decided to form Karnali Development Board to over see development of the region. Likewise, the cabinet meeting decided to bear treatment cost of Ram Raja Prasad Singh who is undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University teaching hospital.
The cabinet meeting could not pick a name for the post of Inspector General of Police in the Nepal Police. "The cabinet meeting informally held discussion on whether to appoint IGP on the basis of seniority or to appoint one with whom the home minister can work easily," said a minister on condition of anonymity, adding, "We entrusted the prime minister and home minister to make decision on the issue."
