CPN-UML lawmaker Suhang Nembang emphasized that work in the House should focus on the prosperity and welfare of the country rather than the interests of the ruling party or opposition. “We should support and critique the government’s work based on its merits and demerits. Constructive advice and suggestions are necessary, and we should not oppose everything the government does, even if it is good," he said.
Similarly, Nepali Congress MP Bharat Khadka stated that Congress will act in a mature and responsible manner in parliament, as a party that upholds democratic values. “There have been some weaknesses in running the government and the party in the past, and on that basis, voters have punished us to some extent this time. That should be accepted,” he added.
Nepali Communist Party MP Yubaraj Dulal said issues related to the rule of law and good governance will be given priority. “Relief for farmers, employment for youth, strengthening the federal democratic republic, and constitutional amendments—such as reducing the number of provincial councils of ministers, implementing a fully proportional electoral system, and establishing an executive president—will be raised with importance in the upcoming session,” he said.
The first session of the House of Representatives after the March 5 elections is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM today.
