Govt okays advertising directive

KATHMANDU, Jan 31: The government has approved “Proportional Advertising Directive” for proportional distribution of government advertisements to all the media houses. A cabinet meeting held in Singh Durbar on Thursday took a decision to this effect.



According to Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Badri Prasad Neupane, the cabinet meeting also decided to award Rs 50,000 each to players and coaches of national women football for finishing second in SAFF Women´s Championship Football.[break]



The cabinet meeting has decided to waive customs duty on the import of various media equipment. The government will also award 10 journalists annually.



The government had been awarding four journalists annually. Similarly, the government has decided to provide Rs 20 million for construction of central office of Nepal Federation of Journalists.



The government will also set up a media training center in a bid to enhance professional capacity of journalists. Likewise, the government has decided to provide Rs 300,000 to the family of Bholiya Devi Mukhiya, 55. Mukhiya of Haripur-3, Sunsari was killed in an elephant attack on Wednesday morning.
