KATHMANDU, March 4: Home Ministry on Wednesday enforced a Code of Conduct for Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) personnel.
The ministry has written to both police headquarters to effectively implement the newly introduced Code of Conduct, saying that the adherence to the code will be a yardstick to evaluate work performance of individual police personnel.
The Police Code of Conduct 2065 BS comprises seven different sections including about beneficiary and service delivery, respect to rights, system institutionalization and fulfillment of assigned duties, abiding laws, individual conducts, participation in seminar and assembly and dissemination of information.
According to the new code of conduct, senior police personnel can no longer employ junior police personnel at their homes for personal purpose.
Likewise, the code has also barred police personnel from making use of seized goods including vehicles and other goods for their personal use.
The code has barred police personnel except the chief of the organization to attend dinner party hosted by any diplomatic missions or non-government organizations. However, this does not prohibit police personnel to attend such party after receiving due permission from the concerned office or its chief.
Among other things, police personnel are prohibited to use additional facilities than they are entitled from their responsibility and receive any kinds of gifts from the people coming for their service.
