Govt declares Janakpur blast victims martyrs

KATHMANDU, May 3: The government has declared the four persons killed in Monday´s Janakpur bomb explosion as martyrs and decided to provide one million rupees each to the victimized families.



A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday morning took a decision to this effect. [break]



Ranju Jha, Bimal Sharan Kurmi, Jhagaru Mandal and Suresh Upadhyaya were killed in the blast and dozen others injured while participating in a sit-in at Ramananda Chowk on Monday.



According to Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, the cabinet meeting also decided to provide free medical treatment to the injured.



Similarly, the cabinet meeting decided to promote Armed Police Force´s DIG Krishna Kumar Tamang to the post of additional inspector general (AIG).



It also promoted Nepal Army Colonel Prakash Krishna Bogati to the vacant post of brigadier general and Nirman Singh Gurung as colonel.



Likewise, the meeting decided to form a seven-member advisory board headed by vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) with regard to non-Nepali residents (NRNs), .
