Gold price up by Rs 1,200 per tola

KATHMANDU, June 10: Price of gold increased to Rs 56,300 per tola in the domestic market on Sunday, up by Rs 1,200 per tola compared to prices recorded on Friday, thanks to rise in the prices of yellow metal in the international bullion market.



Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association (Negosida) revised gold price upwards on the day, taking note of price rise in international market on Saturday. [break]Gold climbed to US $1,593.45 per troy ounce in the international market on Saturday, up from Friday´s $1,571.88 per troy ounce.



Tej Ratna Shakya, president of Negosida, price of gold in the local market has been increased in line with the international market. Gold became dearer also because of weakening of Nepali rupee against US dollar, added Shakya.



A US dollar was valued Rs 89 on Sunday, up from Friday´s Rs 88.60.



Gold has scaled to record high of Rs 56,900 per tola on Wednesday. But it fell by Rs 250 per tola on Thursday and another Rs 1,550 per tola on Friday.



Price of increased nominally by Rs 5 per tola and was traded at Rs 1,045 per tola on Sunday.
