According to the police, the girl Soniya Begha, 11, daughter of Bhakti Prasad Begha, died in the fire that broke out at 11.45pm Saturday night. The deceased was a fifth grader. [break]The police had found Soniya´s burnt body in the course of taking the fire under control. The fire that is said to have started due to short circuit also reduced 13 houses to ashes.
The fire has displaced 28 families.
The goods of a dozen shops and properties of 13 houses were completely gutted, according to the police. Initial investigation by the police has found that the fire had started from a short circuit in the house of Punima Begha.
The fire was brought under control at around 1.30am with the joint effort of the personnel from the police, Armed Police Force and the locals.
A meeting of the District Natural Disaster Relief Committee has decided to provide Rs 40,000 each to the family of deceased and Rs 5000 to others affected by the fire.
Red Cross has provided the fire victims with tents, blankets and food materials. Assistant Chief District Officer Yajnya Prasad Adhikari informed that the relief amount has already been handed over to the victim families.
Tharpu Chamber of Commerce has provided Rs 1000 each to the displaced 28 households, while Nepali Congress party donated Rs 30,000 to aid the relief effort. Chyanthapu is located 97 kilometers north from the district headquarters.
