During a workshop on Business Development´ organized by Federation of Woman Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN), they said the existing interest rates in the market was depriving women, already reeling under weak property rights and financial decision making, from access to finances. [break]
"Ensuring easy access to finances is critical not just to facilitate women entrepreneurship but also for establishing women´s equal rights over wealth," said Rita Bhandary, first vice president of FWEAN.

Likewise, she also pushed for immediate implementation of handicrafts villages saying such a program had been incorporated in the budget last year.
Participants also highlighted various problems faced by women entrepreneurs in the workplaces as well as markets saying the government must take concrete steps to support and empower women. They also pushed for improving women´s access to skills and technology, better transportation facilities, and equal pay, among others.
"Apart from serious debates, we also congratulated women on their achievements, appreciate and honor women at home and at work for their contributions. We acknowledge and encourage role models for their courage and dynamism in society during the workshop," said Bhandary.
