Four more die due to cold in Mohattari

GAUSHALA, Jan 5: Four more women died due to hypothermia in Mahottari Monday night even as the cold wave sweeping across the Tarai region continues to take its toll.



The deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Sukanidevi Malaha, a resident of Siswa village, 45-year-old Sunita Devi and 49-year-old Chandrakala Devi of Kolhuwa village and 69-year-old Budhani Devi of Jaleshwar Municipality-1.



All the deceased are from economically impoverished families. Mostly, children, elderly and people suffering from diseases are affected by the cold.



Some 150 people, most of them children and the old people, come to the district hospital for treatment of cold-borne diseases, the District Hospital, Mahottari, stated. So far, over half a dozen people have died due to hypothermia in the district.
