Dr Yadav noted that the election, originally scheduled for 2084 BS, is being held this year (2082 BS) due to extraordinary circumstances, and he called on citizens to vote seriously and thoughtfully. “We have come to vote today because of challenging conditions in the country. I hope the election proceeds peacefully and public opinion ensures stability in the nation,” he said.
He highlighted that Nepal’s Constitution is the result of democratic movements, citing the significant roles of the 2007, 2046, and 2062/63 people’s movements, as well as the Madhes movement. He stressed the importance of choosing the right party and candidates to further strengthen the federal, democratic, inclusive, and proportional features of the Constitution.
“Many have made sacrificial contributions to the Constitution and the achievements it institutionalizes. In this context, the September 8-9 youth protests occurred; while their demands were valid, attempts to create instability through arson were driven by regressive forces. To defend the country and strengthen democracy, it is essential to ensure victory for democratic forces,” Dr Yadav said.
He expressed confidence that the successful conduct of the election would help maintain peace in the country.
