POKHARA, June 3: CPN-UML former lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari, expressing regret over the Constituent Assembly (CA)´s failure to draft a new constitution, announced that he would not run in the next CA elections.

Organizing a press conference in Pokhara on Sunday, Adhikari said he has lost moral ground to go again to the public asking for vote as the CA, despite having come closer to drafting a new statute, got dissolved without accomplishing its task.[break]

He also said the next CA elections that the government has called for November 22 is not likely to take place as the announcement was made unilaterally. The new elections are a Maoist ploy to capture state powers and are just intended to dupe the people, he added.

Adhikari was elected to the CA from Kaski Constituency No 3.
