Firecrackers imported in capital

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Two and half months earlier before the beginning of Tihar (the festival of lights) and Chhath, some businesspersons have been found importing firecrackers in the capital.



Police said that the businesspersons were importing the firecrackers secretly thinking that the security personnel would beef up the checking against the entry of explosives during the Tihar.[break]



Police on Friday seized 750 pockets of firecrackers from a cement-loaded truck (Na 4 Kha 3238) from the capital while bringing the explosive from Birgunj. Spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, Dhiraj Pratap Singh said that the cement-loaded truck was also carrying firecrackers from Birgunj.



Police said that truck driver Kishori Chaudhary and helper Amit Chaudhary of Bhanwanipur VDC in Rautahat, Krishna Nepali, 27, of Tanglichowk VDC in Gorkha and Anju Shrestha of Banbari VDC in Rautahat district were involved in bringing firecrackers.
