Major political parties have reached an understanding to endorse the bills at the parliament meeting on Tuesday.
Both the ruling and major opposition parties reached an understanding to give continuity to the current budget without making any changes to its programs, in view of time constraints and the possible consequences the country might face if the government failed to endorse the budget by February 15 as the validity of the current budget, which was enforced through ordinances, is expiring on the same day.
The outgoing government on November 19 implemented the current budget through ordinance after proroguing the House session. The move came after Maoist lawmakers assaulted then finance minister in parliament as he was heading to the rostrum to present the budget.
While responding to the queries raised by the lawmakers in the meeting, Adhikari said he would take decisions on budget issues in consensus with other parties.
On the reports about government plan to bring supplementary budget, the finance minister said he has received suggestions both for introducing an early budget for the next fiscal year and to bring a supplementary budget. "I will take an appropriate decision through consensus with parties," he said.
