NC had organized a rally to pile pressure on the government to address the Madhesi demands.
NC Birgunj Committee Chairman Muhammad Sahabuddin has condemned the attack on the party cadres and stated it as 'undemocratic practice'.
The NC rally was attacked by the groups led by FIMF leaders Rajesh Man Singh and Shiva Patel. The Ghantaghar region of Birgunj was tense when the two groups tried to snatch the NC flags.
However, Patel said that they had attacked the rally as the cadres were holding NC flags and chanted slogans in favor of NC. They should have carried black flags not the party flags, he added.
Police prevented any untoward incident by timely intervening in the clash.
