A group of technicians and trained farmers have been assisting 40 farmers of Budar village in Chhatiwan VDC-2 in the research being carried out in 13,000 square meters of land.
The experiments are being carried out under ´shed´ and ´without shed´ conditions in both previously tilled as well as untilled plots of land. [break]
Hill Maize Research Program (HMRP) Kathmandu is providing the financial support for the research while the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Dipayal is giving the technical support.
The entire village has been renamed as ´agricultural research village´ after the experiments with of the breed of Manakamana 3, Manakamana-4, Manakamana 5, Manakamana 6, Deuti Sitala seeds began a few weeks ago.
Parbati Malla, one of the farmers involved research, said, “We are excited about the research.” Parbati is among a few farmers who had taken a month-long training on maize farming in Chitwan district a year ago.
