The ambassadors raised the issue of integration of 3,194 combatants, who are currently in the cantonments under the supervision of the Nepal Army, during their breakfast meeting with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at the latter´s residence at Baluwatar. [break]
"Some of the ambassadors asked the prime minister ´what will happen to the remaining combatants?´ But the prime minister was not specific but stressed on forging consensus and taking the process forward," said an ambassador who attended the meeting.
Though the Special Committee had completed second phase of categorization of the Maoist combatants in mid-April, the process of integrating the remaining combatants has not yet started.
The prime minister had called all the Kathmandu-based ambassadors for a meeting to brief them about the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly and current political situation.
