Entrepreneurs object donation drive

CHITWAN, April 27: The entrepreneurs and businessmen in Chitwan have objected to the Unified CPN (Maoist)’s campaign of collecting money as donation in an arbitrary manner in preparation of the agitation movement it is launching from May 1.



They have also decided not to give any donation that the UCPN (Maoist) is asking from them which is against the business ethic.



President of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uttam Lal Chuke said the industry and business sector that is already in the doldrums will be further in crisis with the donation and extortion drive of the UCPN (Maoist).



Talks have been held between the UCPN (Maoist) and representatives of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday after the local entrepreneurs and business community threatened to take to the streets against the donation drive of the Maoists.



At the talks, agreement has been reached between the two sides on four points including the UCPN (Maoist) will not ask for donations in an unauthorized manner and the entrepreneurs and businessmen can give donation voluntarily.
