Enlighten me, if I'm wrong

KATHMANDU, May 20: We are way off track from the path of economic prosperity and civilization. I can vouch with certainty that ninety nine percent of the public will agree with me that we are speeding in the path towards further deterioration.

Unfortunately people that are on the driving seat of this country do not have the capability, or the interest of developing this nation so that the rest of the public can have a shot at life.[break]

I’m baffled by the idea of people in power, even discussing dividing the country based on ethnicity. Anybody with little common sense will be able to tell that this is a remarkably stupid idea that is definitely going to fail.

Is there a need to re-structure this nation? What is wrong with the model that currently exists? Is the current model causing a problem to anyone interested in developing this country? Shouldn’t the new constitution just say that all Nepalis are equal? The idea of protecting ones culture is great, but that can be done by adhering to your values and beliefs.

The bizarre proposal of dividing the nation has no logic. There is not a single nation in the world that has prospered with an absurd plan like this one. If we look at any developed countries, there isn’t a model that recommends segregating the public by their casts.

So are we really going to let a few politicians decide our fate? This is no different than getting on a bus, despite having prior information about its brakes not working.

Why are we, the public, falling for Madhesi’s agenda, Tharu’s agenda and numerous other demands by all kinds of groups? This is just going to make our lives more miserable.

The restructuring of the nation is only going to benefit a number of politicians, which will allow them to create more positions within the government to further abuse power and gather wealth at the taxpayer’s expense.

The Maoist regime has already disappointed the public. The Nepali people gave the Maoists a chance to see if they are serious about leading this nation towards economic prosperity;, most people are convinced at this point, these guys are no different than the parties previously in power.

Dr. Baburam Bhattarai led government has given a chance to enjoy power to people from all walks of life some of whom visit foreign country without visa, create drunk scenes at hospitals, demand cash from businesses to approve licenses without guilt, engage in kidnapping and extortion of businessman.

Mostly people that are not concerned about being exposed in the society with a negative label attached to them.

Further more Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is eyeing the seat of the president with unlimited term, probably with a dictatorial regime in mind.

The Madhesi party that is currently supporting the government is just here to enjoy the party while it lasts; they will join other parties as soon as they see a bigger piece of cheese than the Maoists are feeding them.

The new trend in the political business has become to grab the seat, remain in power and loot the wealth of foreign aid supported nation. Until the Nepali people start recognizing these issues, Nepal will continue to bleed.

For instance, if I vandalize a brand new vehicle by smashing its windows, taking the engine apart and slashing its tires. Later on, if I just replace the windshield, can I claim that it’s good as new?
