Education institutions shut in Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI, Feb 2: All private and public educational institutions of Nawalparasi district have been shut down Wednesday in protest of attack on teacher.



Condemning the attack on Secretary of Nepal Teachers Association (NTA), Nawalparasi and Principal of Bhanudaya Higher Secondary, Dumkibas, Mohan Lal Kalwar, various teachers organizations called upon to shut down all the educational institutions in Nawalparasi for a day.



Some unruly elements had launched deadly assault on teacher Kalwar while he was having meal at own home at 7 PM on January 31.



Wishing for the speedy recovery of seriously injured Kalwar and demanding stern action against the culprits, Vice-president of Nepal Teachers Union (NTU), Nawalparasi Mukunda Bhattarai, Vice-chairperson of NTA Chudamani Sharma, Chairperson of Community Schools National Network, Bed Prasad Neupane, District Chairperson of Nepal Public Campus Association, Shrawan Kumar Kushwaha, Secretary of Nepal Trade Union Congress (Independent), Subas Bhushal issued separate press releases to draw the attention of the state towards the security of teachers.



Earlier, the East-West Highway was brought to a grinding halt and Dumkibas bazaar was shut on Tuesday to protest the heinous act.
