DSP among six, injured during clash

DAMAULI, Tanahu, Oct 4: Six police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police and Inspector, were injured Saturday night when they were stoned while using force to open Prithvi Highway blocked by youths in Tanahu.



A gang of youth of Dulaigauda attacked another gang of youth of Khaireni over a dispute in the evening. Police were called in to intervene in the clash.



Later Dulaigauda youth hurled stones at police personnel while talks were underway to resolve the standoff. DSP Rajendra Bista, Inspector Mahendra Khadka and four other police personnel were injured in the incident.



Police resorted to lathi-charge and fired bullets in the air when youth blocked Damauli-Kotre road section along Prithvi Highway. The highway was opened at 10:40 p.m. The unruly mob also vandalized a private car, a van, a passenger bus and another unidentified vehicle.



A youth of Dulaiguada who was involved in the incident has been arrested, police said.
