DPM Shrestha stuns metropolis staff with visit

KATHMANDU, Nov. 21: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Narayan Kaji Shrestha has directed the bureaucracy to become more responsible in the political transition. Local bodies were in need of self-assessment for development and good governance, he added.



DPM Shrestha gave such directive while conducting a surprise visit at the Metropolitan Office of the Kathmandu Metropolis, Bagdurbar on Wednesday.[break]



A monitoring team including the DPM, Secretary at the Ministry Shanta Bahadur Shrestha and others, conducted the surprise visit. During the visit, the Office employees were urged to deliver service in a prompt and smooth way.



Quality service was essential, DPM Sherestha said and directed the Metropolis to take special initiative to reduce arrears and maintain disciple.



The monitoring team took stock of the services provided by the Kathmandu Metropolis and the administrative works there, said Ministry Spokesperson Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya.



During the monitoring, 116 employees of different departments in the Metropolis Office were found absent.



Executive Officer at the Office, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari informed the monitoring team about the activities going on in the Office.
