BHAKTAPUR, July 23: Dissident leader of CPN-UML Rajendra Shrestha said on Monday that the dissident faction is completing its last minute preparations to open a new party.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by Rafat Sanchar Club, Bhaktapur, Shrestha stressed that the dissident leaders will break away if the party does not withdraw its decision to stand for a federal system based on multi-ethnic identity. [break]

He also accused the party leaders of imposing authoritarian rule within the party.

Although the UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress were willing to reinstate the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA), it was only UML which opposed the idea which shows their unilateral attitude, he stressed.

Shrestha was also of opinion that the party is ignorant towards the indigenous leaders and their issues.

Accusing UCPN (Maoist) of dissolving the CA, he said that UML is not less responsible as it does not have its own stance on political issues.

He also criticized the media houses of twisting the issues of the ethnic, indigenous and marginalized communities.
