Deuba faction warns of en masse resignation

KATHMANDU, Aug. 13: The Nepali Congress central committee members close to the faction led by senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba have warned of resigning en masse, if the departmental responsibilities bestowed upon them are not respectful enough.



Speaking at a meeting of the faction held at leader Deuba´s Budhanilakantha residence, majority of the central members said party President had been trying to run the party unilaterally at the cost of them, and said they would resign collectively.[break]



Expressing concern over the act of the party President to form various departments without a consensus among the senior leaders, the central members on the occasion also suggested leader Deuba to hold an open and decisive talks with the party president to that end.



The meeting today discussed on the issues to be forwarded in the central committee meeting scheduled for coming August 16 and basically focused on giving collective resignation from the departmental responsibilities, NC central member Purna Bahadur Khadka said.



He said the central members were of the view that immediate effective steps need to taken as the party president had formed the departments unilaterally and arbitrarily.



Senior leader Deuba on the occasion said that the party president had been betraying him repeatedly and would now present himself strongly at the upcoming central committee meeting, according to central member Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat.



Some 25 central members close to leader Deuba attended the meeting, which is to resume at 3:00 pm tomorrow, it is learnt.
