KATHMANDU, March 22: In a move aimed at strengthening ties with the global Nepali diaspora, a separate desk will be established at the arrival and departure halls of Tribhuvan International Airport for people of Nepali origin and non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) worldwide.
According to the Department of Immigration (DoI), the decision is intended to deepen the emotional and cultural connection of people of Nepali origin and NRNs with Nepal, while also promoting tourism and investment.

The DoI on Sunday directed the Tribhuvan International Airport Office to manage the dedicated desk in both the arrival and departure sections.
The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO), which has long been urging the government to introduce such a provision, welcomed the decision, noting that it had repeatedly drawn the government’s attention to the issue.
Following the decision, the ANO expressed its gratitude to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and the ministry through a statement.
In the statement issued by ANO President Dilli Adhikari, it said, “This decision by the Home Ministry has made people of Nepali origin across the world feel respected. We believe its implementation will significantly contribute to strengthening their connection with Nepal.”
