Dahal said, "I have talked to government officials in this issue. I hope the victims will be provided with compensation."

He said he has taken the woes of farmers seriously as they were hard hit after the vegetables and fruits were burnt. The former prime minister also said that the space of Kalimati vegetables and fruits market was too narrow and limited.

Dahal was of the opinion that vegetable and fruit market should be established at a wider and open space where people can move to and fro easily, as urbanization and population density in the capital city was rising.

However, the traders have demanded to probe into the losses, saying that the incident was a premeditated one.

In the fire, six persons were burnt to death while vegetables and fruits worth Rs 50 million were gutted to cinders.
