Cooperative board members charged with urea black marketing

GAJURI, Dhading, Aug 24: Board members of the Jana Adarsha Agriculture Cooperative Ltd based in Gajuri, Dhading have been arrested on the charge of supplying chemical fertilizer at an exorbitant price.



According to Police Inspector Raj Kumar Thing, Cooperative´s Chairman Tara Bhandari and manager Krishna Bahadur Lamichhane have been arrested for promoting black-marketing of chemical fertilizer. [break]



They were found supplying urea fertilizer at Rs. 45 per kg. The subsidized price of the fertilizer is Rs. 18 per kg.



The Assistant Chief District Officer said a case under the Black Marketing Act will be filed against Bhandari and Lamichhane.



The two may face jail term of up to 10 years and fines if they proved are guilty, Police Inspector Thing said.
