An undergraduate student of English literature, and Journalism and Mass Communication at Madan Bhandari Memorial College in Binayak Nagar, Kathmandu, Vijaya is currently awaiting her final-year results. This busy bee doesn’t have much time to spare, but loves listening to music, watching movies, catching up with friends and meditating during her free time.

Here she talks about her job, the challenges and her future plans.

What are your responsibilities at ITNTI?

Since I’m a business executive, my prime responsibility is to enhance the services and client base of ITNTI. I meet a lot of people from diverse backgrounds, convince them of our services, and handle and uplift the company’s market value.

What are the challenges? How do you deal with them?

ITNTI offers services related to information technology and software development. Since I have no background on IT, it took me the first three months to get acquainted with the technical terminologies. Only after then I became confident enough to face a client. Software and IT companies are mushrooming like never before, so I need to constantly update myself and prepare accordingly.

So what are the perks?

I get to meet and network with people from diverse fields and that’s always an advantage. Besides, I’ve found a good improvement in my communication skills in the course of my job. Also, since my job requires me to update myself with the technological advancements, it’s a constant learning process.

What are some of the qualities that a business executive must possess?

Belief in themselves, confidence and convincing power.

Tell us about your work ethics.

I believe in doing my work sincerely. Likewise, cooperating with your seniors and coworkers is a must. Unlike what most people believe, I don’t think the salary you get should determine your performance. Lastly, it’s very important to separate personal and professional matters.

What are your future plans?

I entered the world of marketing totally by chance, and although I was reluctant in the beginning, I’ve fallen in love with my job after having learned the tricks of the trade. However, having said that, I would like to work at the community level in the long run. Civic Schools is a pilot project right now, but if it works out, I would love to get involved with it for as long as I can, because I’ve always loved working with young minds.
