Claim over same child creates tension in Janakpur hospital

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan. 12: Two mothers who gave fresh births at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital have a dispute after they both claimed to be the mother of the same male child.



One Sangita Devi Saha of Kharihani-5 of Dhanusha District on Saturday delivered a child on the way to the hospital. The mother and baby were admitted to the hospital for further medical observation.



At the same time, one Renudevi Mahato of Laxminiya-5, Mahottari district have given a birth to baby at the hospital at around 8:15 am same day. Both Saha and Mahato were admitted to a same bed due to lack of beds. Of the newborn babies, one is female and another is male child.



But, now both women have claimed their ownership of a baby boy. The nurses also are not sure who the baby boy´s mother is.



Tensions gripped the hospital for some time due to this today. According to police Inspector Govinda Puri, DNA of the both mothers and the baby boy has been sent to Kathmandu for test and verify who is mother of the child.
