A seven-member Chinese delegation led by Deputy Executive Director at the Department of Commerce of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, Sonam Dorji, expressed this interest in a meeting with Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies, Lalmani Joshi. The talks were held at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies today.
According to Joshi, the Chinese side expressed the commitment to construct a dry port at Kerung or adjoining places in Rasuwa, set up a quarantine check post with laboratory and to help in road construction.
He said in the meeting views were exchanged on matters pertaining to trade promotion, construction of infrastructures related to trade and industry and facilitation of export of Nepali goods as well as on bilateral relations.
Discussions were also held on expansion of the bilateral trade as well as on the activities of the Nepal-China Tibet Trade Facilitation Committee, a mechanism constituted to resolve any hurdles that might crop up on matters of bilateral trade.
The Chinese delegation also invited Nepal for its participation in the trade fair being held in Lhasa next year.
Earlier in the day, the delegation called on Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Tulasi Prasad Sitaula, and apprised him about the Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road being constructed with Chinese assistance.
