Chief Justice Raut retires

Following his retirement, the senior-most Supreme Court justice, Sapana Pradhan Malla, will assume the role of acting Chief Justice.

KATHMANDU, March 31: Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has gone on mandatory retirement from Tuesday.



Raut was appointed Chief Justice on October 6, 2024, by President Ram Chandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.

Following his retirement, the senior-most Supreme Court justice, Sapana Pradhan Malla, will assume the role of acting Chief Justice.


Raut was appointed to the top judicial post after the then Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha retired.
